Emerson Contemporary Presents "I: An Intimate Reflection" Exhibition
Emerson Contemporary, the College's platform for presenting contemporary visual art, presented a new exhibition "I: An Intimate Reflection," on view in the Media Art Gallery at 25 Avery Street, from November 17 through December 12, 2021. The presentation included a broad range of media by Boston-based emerging artists such as photography, steel sculpture, acrylic painting, digital video, and hand-sewn mixed media installations. The exhibition was curated by fourteen undergraduate students in conjunction with a Visual Media Arts course, "Curating Contemporary Art," taught by Dr. Leonie Bradbury, Distinguished Curator-in-Residence. Students are responsible for all aspects of the exhibition, including: exhibition design, building a website, loan agreements, the object checklist, educational materials, social media assets, and press materials.

Emerson Stage Presents This Girl Laughs, This Girl Cries, This Girl Does Nothing
Students participated in Emerson Stage's production of This Girl Laughs, This Girl Cries, This Girl Does Nothing in conjunction with their 2021-2022 season. The show is written by Finegan Kruckemeyer and directed by Pascale Florestal. Three young sisters are left in a forest by their woodcutter father and forced to find their own way in the world. From this fairytale beginning, three resolutions are made-one sister walks one way to find purpose, one the other to find adventure, and the third stays right where she is to create a home. The production took place October 7-9 and 16 at the Robert J. Orchard Stage in the Paramount Center in Boston, MA.

Emerson student-athletes are named to the 2021 NEWMAC (New England Women's & Men's Conference) Fall Academic All-Conference teams in women's soccer, men's soccer, women's volleyball, and cross country. To qualify, honorees must have earned a cumulative GPA of 3.5 on a 4.0 scale or 4.35 on a 5.0 scale after the Spring 2021 semester, be a second-year student, and have been a member of the College's varsity team for the entire season.

Emerson Stage Presents The Late Wedding
Students participated in Emerson Stage's production of The Late Wedding in conjunction with their 2021-2022 season. In a series of disjointed vignettes of marriage and work-worn love, The Late Wedding travels through space and time (quite literally) to depict the core of what makes a successful partnership and what subtly chips away at its foundation. The show ran from September 23-26 in the Jackie Liebergott Black Box Theater.

Trevor McLean Wins Annual International Public Relations Competition for GlobCom
Trevor McLean '22 was on the winning team of this year's GlobCom, an annual international public relations competition held June 2-5 that asks students to work together with peers around the world to solve a PR problem. This year's client was The Daily Mile, an initiative that aims to promote physical, mental, social, and emotional wellbeing in children through jogging. McLean's team's "Run to the Rainbow" campaign was selected by a panel of judges as the most effective and creative.

Students Named Dean's Fellows for Racial Equity
The Office of Academic Affairs and the Dean's Council launched an inaugural Dean's Fellowship Program that embraces racial equity as a key standard for assessing the quality of the College's programs, practices and activities. The program aims to support the personal and professional development of students who are committed to advancing equity on campus. Each of the College's schools are collaborating to offer a holistic experience that underscores how the intersectional identities of the Fellows will inform their work throughout the Fellowship. Created this year in order to advance equity initiatives across the College, fellows will work closely with the dean's leadership team, faculty, BIPOC student groups, and others on campus to facilitate communication and actions that promote racial justice, equity, healing, and inclusion in each School's academic environment.

Emerson students were recognized through the Emerson Recognition & Achievement (ERA) Awards, which celebrate student and campus leadership as well as the infinite achievements of the Emerson College Community. The ERA Award of Distinction is an award recognizing those who leave a long-standing impact on the Emerson College community through change and an impactful legacy. This year, the recipients are those who worked to seek meaningful change on campus for students of color through the #ESOCWeekofAction. The week is a movement designed to hold the College accountable for creating a campus where every student can feel welcome and safe, regardless of race or background.
