Emerson Speech and Debate Team Advances to Finals in Seoul, South Korea
The Emerson Speech and Debate team made history at this year's finals in Seoul, South Korea. Three students advanced to the finals this year after a season of rigorous debate: Stella Del Tergo ('25), Kayla Armbruster ('25), and Olivia DeCesare ('26). Emerson is one of four institutions worldwide that reached the speech and debate finals. They were led by Deion Hawkins, Assistant Professor of Argumentation & Advocacy and the Director of Emerson's Debate Team.

Six Student Plays Showcased at Emerson College's 2025 NewFest
From March 20-22, Emerson College featured six short plays at the 2025 NewFest Short Works performances in the Semel Theater. All six plays are written, directed, and performed by Performing Arts students. They include Convenience of Proximity, Second Place, Death of Gogh, Period(.) Play, Flight of the Midnight Lobster, and Old Reliable.

Emerson College students were inducted into the Purple Key Leadership Society for the 2024-2025 academic year. The inductees are recognized at the annual Emerson Recognition & Achievement (ERA) Awards ceremony on Friday, April 18th, 2025, as well as in the 2025 commencement program at the College's graduation ceremony.

Mariana Caro Awarded Prestigious National Association of Hispanic Journalists Scholarship
Mariana Caro ('25) was awarded the Ruben Salazar Scholarship by the National Association of Hispanic Journalists. The scholarship will allow Caro to travel to Chicago for the NAHJ Conference in July, where she can meet industry professionals, take workshops, and network with other journalists.

Dylan Humphrey Acknowledged by Sundance Residency and Paley Center Intern Program
Dylan Humphrey ('27) was honored as a finalist for the Sundance Cultural Impact Residency and a semifinalist for the Paley Center for Media Peter Roth Internship. The Sundance program honors the legacy of social justice advocate Michael Latt by uplifting underrepresented voices in film. The Paley Center's internship, named after TV executive Peter Roth, provides interns with an "unparalleled" look at the creative and business sides of television.

Emerson College Student Gains Meaningful Experience Through C-SPAN Internship
Emerson College student Carol Rangel Gomes participated in an internship with C-SPAN in the fall semster of 2022. The internship took place in collaboration with the Emerson College Washington D.C program. The program allows students of any major to gain experience working in government; nonprofit, environmental, media, and communication organizations; arts, humanities and educational institutions; social advocacy groups, businesses, economics and trade firms; and law and criminal justice agencies.

Olivia Strauss awarded prize for entrepreneurial pitch
Olivia Strauss recently won an award during this year's E3 Expo, an annual pitch competition event at Emerson College, celebrating creativity in business. Students showcase their ventures and compete for monetary awards and donated services to help launch their business. Students who are involved in the E3 minor (Emerson Experience in Entrepreneurship) go through the paces of thinking up, developing, and marketing a business or nonprofit venture.
