More than 50 Emerson College students, under the direction of Anne Bogart, will present the world premiere of CafA(C) Variations, a distinctive production celebrating cafA(C) culture using vignettes from Charles Mee's CafA(C) Plays combine with music exclusively from the Gershwin songbook. The large ensemble cast features SITI Company members (in residence at Emerson College) performing alongside young artists from the Department of Performing Arts at Emerson College, incorporating dialogue, music, and dance to render romantic scenes ubiquitous to the lively world of the cafA(C). Each song and scene is a discreet short play but fits together as a whole piece, with a complete narrative.

A total of 98 students will be awarded a certificate of achievement at a ceremony on Wednesday, April 18, at the Tufte Performance and Production Center's Semel Theater (10 Boylston Place, Boston). Seniors will also receive a special sash to be worn at commencement.

For the ninth consecutive year, journalism students from Emerson College traveled to Los Angeles to cover the 84th annual Academy Awards ceremony on Sunday, Feb. 26 for WEBN News on webn.tv.

Local residents will screen their work at the 12th Annual Emerson Film Festival (EFF) on Thursday, March 8, at 7:30 p.m. at the Writer's Guild Theater (135 South Doheny Drive) in Beverly Hills, Calif.

Local residents will be featured in Emerson Stage's production of Twilight: Los Angeles, 1992 premiering Thursday, February 23 at 8 p.m. and running through Sunday, February 26. They join more than 40 fellow cast and crew members in this performance, directed by Benny Sato Ambush, which commemorates the 20th anniversary of the Los Angeles riots. The performances will take place in the Semel Theater at the Tufte Performance and Production Center (10 Boylston Place, Boston).

Local residents and Emerson College students were selected by Artistic Director and Dancer-in-Residence in Emerson's Department of Performing Arts Marlena Yannetti. They are enrolled in Yannetti's Dance Composition course. X Dance is the culmination of the students' discovery and exploration of their own movement and imagery. X Dance runs through February 12 at Emerson's Greene Theater (10 Boylston Place, Boston, 6th Floor).

Performing arts professor at Emerson College, will direct ArtsEmerson's production of Sugar, a sugar-free jam on diabetes and life, which premieres January 20 at the Black Box Theater of Emerson's Paramount Center (559 Washington St., Boston).

Local residents were selected to represent Emerson College in Who's Who Among Students in American Universities and Colleges for the 2011-2012 academic year, to which 100 students applied.

She Loves Me is Patria Ferragamo's first time in the spotlight as head costume designer and working on her own with an assistant.

Local residents and Emerson College students will join 26 of their peers in the musical comedy, She Loves Me. Performances take place November 30 through December 4 at the Greene Theater in Emerson's Tufte Performance and Production Center (10 Boylston Place, Boston).

Emerson faculty chose eligible upper-class students and recent graduates based on their individually submitted scripts and synopses. Then, WGAE identified five professional writers based on their writing specialties to mentor the students.

Local residents and Emerson students will join 35 of their peers in this annual Theatre for Young Audiences (TYA) production written by Greg Banks and directed by Courtney O'Connor and Ted Hewlett. Performances take place November 12-19 at the Mainstage of Emerson's Paramount Center (559 Washington St., Boston).

Emerson students were cast in Home, the coda to You Better Sit Down: Tales from My Parents' Divorce. They will join 14 fellow Emerson students in this production, a collaboration with The Civilians, a New York-based investigative theater company. Home was written by Anne Kauffman, Matthew Maher, Caitlin Miller, Janice Paran, Jennifer Morris, and Robbie Collier Sublett and is directed by Morris and Sublett. Performances take place October 25-30 at the Mainstage of Emerson College's Paramount Theater (559 Washington St., Boston).

Local residents and Emerson College students earned positions in Emerson Stage's first production of the season, Cloud Nine.
