Emerson College students were inducted into the Purple Key Leadership Society for the 2022-2023 academic year. The inductees were recognized at the annual Emerson Recognition & Achievement (ERA) Awards ceremony on Friday, April 14th, 2023, as well as in the 2023 commencement program at the College's graduation ceremony. Students who have earned a 3.0 or better cumulative grade point average, and who are in good social standing at the College were invited to submit an application for consideration. The recipients of this prestigious honor demonstrate exceptional leadership and service, a strong commitment to citizenship and civic engagement, solid academic achievement, and future leadership potential.

Ninety-eight seniors and juniors were inducted into Emerson's Gold Key Honor Society on April 5th, 2023 in a ceremony in the Semel Theater located in Boston, Massachusetts. The Gold Key Honor Society is an interdisciplinary organization founded at Emerson in 1962 to "recognize and encourage outstanding academic achievement." Juniors in the top 5 percent of their class, and seniors in the top 10 percent of their class who have earned at least 48 credits are eligible.

Emerson College students participated in a variety of roles for the production of Jelly's Last Jam on March 31st, 2023, at the Semel Theater in Boston, MA. The musical featured an all-Black cast, which was very important to the director and co-executive producer, Jasmine Hawkins '23, and music director and co-executive producer, McKennen Campbell '23. Written by George C. Wolfe in 1991, Jelly's Last Jam follows the story of jazz pioneer Jelly Roll Morton. The performace begins with a recently deceased Jelly Roll who is conjured by a mysterious being named "Chimney Man" to relive his life. The story shares the joy, celebration, and contributions Black people have given to art.

Emerson College students performed at the Open Mic Night on March 26th, 2023 at SPC theatre, at Emerson College, Boston, Massachusetts. The event was part of the three-day EmBrace Our HeArts Festival, highlighting performance, film, and poetry. The final evening of the festival featured a book sale and open mic in partnership with Beacon Hill Books & Cafe. The open mic featured stories, poems, and more by students of color. A book truck provided a selection of books by authors of color for sale. Performances from students took place at the Into the Spotlight event on Saturday, March 25th, 2023 in the Cutler Majestic Theater at Emerson College in Boston, Massachusetts. The live performances including comedy sketches, dance, selections from musicals, and more. The Emerson College Men's Basketball team ended its season, after earning the #2 seed in the NEWMAC playoffs, against Babson, with Babson defeating Emerson 69-64 on February 23rd, 2023, in a NEWMAC playoff game at Emerson College. The team had a 16-10 overall record, and an impressive record of 11-3 within NEWMAC, for 2022.

The 22nd annual Emerson Film Festival took place in the Bright Family Screening room in Paramount Center on March 22nd. The festival screened 12 short documentary, narrative, and experimental films made by Emerson students. The screening was followed by a live moderated conversation with student filmmakers as well.

Emerson College student Munroe Shearer wrote the Emerson Stage production of Mary, Sweet Mary. The world premiere was held March 2-5, 2023 at the Greene Theater at Emerson College, Boston, MA. Each year, the Rod Parker Playwriting Fellowship is awarded to a student playwright, and their play is taken from page to stage. Mary, Sweet Mary tells the story of Queen Elizabeth I and her anxieties surrounding her legacy, duties, and how it manifests towards the people around her. Emerson Stage and the Department of Performing Arts are where the next generation of actors, designers, stage managers, technicians, administrators, and educators work alongside distinguished faculty, professional staff, and visiting artists to bring skills learned in the classroom to vibrant life on stage.

Emerson College student Carol Rangel Gomes participated in an internship with C-SPAN in the fall semster of 2022. The internship took place in collaboration with the Emerson College Washington D.C program. The program allows students of any major to gain experience working in government; nonprofit, environmental, media, and communication organizations; arts, humanities and educational institutions; social advocacy groups, businesses, economics and trade firms; and law and criminal justice agencies.

Levy, The Secret in the Wings, an adaptation of Brother Grimms' fairy tales, is a story of a child and her frightening babysitter who shares with her stories of hope, despair, terror, and resilience. sprinkled with humor. The event was held on December 3rd-4th and drew about 120 competitors from 15 colleges in nine states, according to Trent Webb, director of forensics at Hofstra University.

Emerson College students particpate in Emerson Stage production of Paris on January 26th-29th in the Jackie Liebergott Black Box Theater at Emerson College in Boston, MA. Paris features Emmie, one of the only Black people living in Paris, Vermont. The play touches on isolation and invisibility. Emerson College students participated in Emerson Stage's production of "Are You Someone To Somebody?", performed December 8th-11th, 2022 in the Greene Theater at Emerson College in Boston, MA. Conceived of and directed by Lindsay Beamish, the show is a mixture of text, movement, abstract design, and media; a new work highlighting the the general human experience.

Emerson College students recently received Honorable Mentions for the AVCA Division III All-America teams. The American Volleyball Coaches Association announced its 41st annual NCAA Division III All-America Teams for women's volleyball. Honorable mentions were given to the two Emerson College Women's Volleyball players. Both players were also selected to their second NEWMAC All-Conference Teams.

With the help of Emerson Contemporary, Emerson College's platform for presenting contemporary visual art, Emerson students presents a new exhibition "Perspectives: Micro to Macro." The exhibit was located at 25 Avery Street, Emerson's Media Art Gallery, from November 30 through December 16, 2022. The exhibition was curated by 15 Emerson undergraduate students as part of a Visual Media Arts course, "Curating Contemporary Art," taught by Dr. Leonie Bradbury. Emerson Contemporary is the College's platform for showcasing contemporary visual art. It is focused on presenting living artists, their ideas, experiments, and creative practices in the areas of media art, performance art, and emergent technologies, while critically examining these works in their social context.
