Jonathan Acorn in Emerson Stage Production of Dancing at Lughnasa at Emerson College

2014 Nov 4

Jonathan Acorn of Merrimac, who is majoring in BFA Musical Theatre at Emerson College, is part of Emerson Stage's production of Dancing at Lughnasa as Michael. In Ireland in 1936, the five Mundy sisters welcome their mentally and physically frail elder brother home from a life as a missionary in Africa: a small act of family charity that signals a sea change in life for the five women. Love blooms briefly for some sisters, and opportunity looms for others, but as summer fades to fall, dreams fade to reality--and the sisters gather to celebrate the harvest festival of Lughnasa together one last time. Elegant, rueful, heartwarming, and honest, Dancing at Lughnasa is Brian Friel's masterpiece--a lyrical tribute to the spirit and valor of the past.

Emerson's production is directed by Courtney O'Connor and will run from November 6 to November 9 at the Semel Theater (10 Boylston Place, Boston, MA, 02116) at Emerson College. Tickets are $12 for general audiences and $8 for the Emerson community.
