Cat O'Grady in Emerson Stage Production of Lizzie Bright and the Buckminster Boy at Emerson College

2013 Oct 25

Cat O'Grady, of Raleigh and majoring in BA Theatre Studies at Emerson College, is part of Emerson Stage's production of Lizzie Bright and the Buckminster Boy as Props Master. Based on the book by Gary D. Schmidt, the play is set in 1912 in coastal Maine. Reverend Buckminster's son Turner, the new kid in town, is lonely and having trouble fitting in. He meets Lizzie Bright, an African-American girl from nearby Malaga Island who becomes his best friend. They share everything: secrets, worries, and the courage to take a stand against greed and racial prejudices in their community. When the townspeople try to force the residents off of Malaga Island, their friendship is tested and Turner and Lizzie face life's great challenges of loss and allegiance.

Emerson's production is directed by Robert Colby and will run from October 31 to November 3 at the Semel Theatre (10 Boylston Place, Boston, MA, 02116) at Emerson College. Tickets are $12 for general audiences and $8 for the Emerson community.
