Ariel Knoebel awarded Who's Who Among Students in America

2011 Dec 1

Newport Beach's Ariel Knoebel was selected to represent Emerson College in Who's Who Among Students in American Universities and Colleges for the 2011–2012 academic year. Knoebel, a senior interdisciplinary major, was one of 25 students chosen by a committee of Emerson students and administrators based on academic scholarship, student involvement, campus leadership, citizenship, and future potential. One hundred students applied.

Recipients of the honor will be recognized at the College's annual student awards ceremony during Commencement Weekend in May. They are also included in the Who's Who Among Students biographical volume and given a Who's Who commemorative key engraved with their initials and date of selection.

"This is a remarkable group of young men and women. They represent 25 of Emerson's most outstanding undergraduates of the past four years," said Emerson Dean of Students Ronald Ludman. "Their individual achievements and contributions on and off campus are quite impressive. In addition to excelling in the classroom, their selflessness and leadership among their peers significantly enhanced the quality of student life and the sense of community on campus."

Who's Who Among Students in American Universities and Colleges is a highly regarded national program that honors outstanding campus leaders annually for their scholastic ability, participation, and leadership in academic and extracurricular activities and community service. Faculty members, deans, directors, and department chairs as well as students themselves may nominate individuals they feel are worthy of this recognition. This exclusive honor is conferred by more than 2,842 schools in all 50 states and the District of Columbia and is symbolized by the presentation of an award certificate.
